Master Data Management Project for International Postal Operators 

The Master Data Management (MDM) project was initiated to create a standardized framework for international postal operators, focusing on defining and managing the key performance standards of global parcel delivery services. The primary goal of the project was to establish and maintain clear, consistent, and transparent standards that govern the end-to-end delivery process for international parcels—from dispatch to final delivery—across various countries. 

 

Key Aspects of the Parcel Delivery Standards:

  • Export Leg:
    Establishes the expected time frame for a parcel to be cleared for export and loaded onto the carrier after being dispatched from the origin country. 

  • Rechnungen Leg:
    Defines the standard duration for the parcel to be transported from the origin country to the destination country. 

  • Delivery Leg:
    Sets the benchmarks for the time required to unload the parcel from the carrier, process it through import customs, and deliver it to the final recipient. 

 

The project not only helps in evaluating the performance of postal operators but also provides postal users (clients) with transparent and reliable information about the expected delivery times for their parcels, enabling better service planning and customer satisfaction. 

 

Through the implementation of this MDM system, postal operators now have a centralized, robust, and transparent way to manage, validate, and version these critical standards. This ensures consistency across the international postal network and allows for continuous improvement in service delivery.

The Postal Performance Reporting and Monitoring Project is a comprehensive initiative aimed at revolutionizing the way global parcel delivery data is collected, analyzed, and reported. The project focuses on providing an accurate and real-time overview of postal operations across the globe, ensuring the transparency and efficiency of parcel delivery services. 

 

This system is designed to offer daily insights into various aspects of postal operations, with live item tracking information that enables postal operators to monitor the entire journey of a parcel—from its origin to its final destination.

 

The project is built around several key goals:

  • Enhancing End-to-End Parcel Delivery Performance
    By analyzing delivery data in real time, postal operators can identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, leading to faster and more reliable parcel delivery. This directly contributes to higher customer satisfaction and loyalty. 
     

  • Ensuring Compliance with Postal Standards
    The system verifies postal data against numerous international postal standards, ensuring that all operations are in line with the required regulations. This helps maintain consistency and reliability in global postal services. 
     

  • Transparency in Parcel Delivery
    The project provides a transparent view of each parcel's journey, covering the export phase, international transportation, and the delivery process in the destination country. This transparency builds trust with customers and stakeholders, offering them confidence in the reliability of postal services. 
     

  • Simplifying International Postal Accounting
    By providing readily accessible data on postal traffic volumes between international partners, the system streamlines the accounting processes between postal operators. This reduces the complexity of cross-border transactions, making international cooperation more efficient.
